Research for Peace and Security

The Institute for Peace Research and Security Policy at the University of Hamburg has been investigating the conditions for peace and security – on a global, regional and local scale – since 1971. The IFSH aims to contribute actively to peace by conducting outstanding and innovative research. Transferring knowledge from research to politics and society is a fundamental part of the institute's work.

To support Prof. Dr. Ursula Schröder, we are looking for a Student Assistant (m/f/d) to start as soon as possible. The position is limited to a maximum duration of twelve months. Working hours are up to 10 hours per week and remuneration is based on TV-AVH EG2. A requirement for employment is current enrollment as a student at a state-recognized German university.

The position serves to provide administrative and organizational support to Prof. Dr. Schröder in leading the DFG research group PROMISE.

Your mission

  • Supporting administrative and organizational processes in research operations 
  • Assisting with website maintenance, including uploading and updating content, as well as supporting external communication tasks such as proofreading, event photography, and image editing 
  • Assisting with simple technical tasks, particularly in maintaining workstations and providing technical preparation and support for events in the field of conference technology

Your profile

  • Enrolled in at least a Bachelor’s program in political science or a related field 
  • Interest in a diverse and international working environment in the context of research and academia 
  • Reliable, structured, and friendly working style, as well as enjoyment of teamwork 
  • Excellent English skills, as English is the primary working language 
  • Experience in using social media channels 
  • Initial experience in editorial processes
